Tiny hand warmers for 2year olds on circular needles

November 19th, 2013

People often say to me that they cannot knit hand warmers on circular needles as it does not stretch round, but for some reason I seem to manage, I do often use shorter than average needles as you can now buy short ones to attach to interchangeable needles, but because I was too lazy to get up off my fat bottom so I just used the pair that were next to me and they were absolutely fine for these…

I don’t know if it is my method or sheer determination but they are not stretched out of shape and stitches are even, for the stripes look here

in my last post I mentioned that my daughter picked some yarn for hand warmers and I am knitting these up on long needles also they are fine

Needles i have used for small hand warmers

I used the grey ones for all of the green hand warmers, and as you can see above they look fine (the bottom has an invisible cast on)

I used the pink needles for the rib on the pink ones (below) and also had no trouble

and the mufti wood ones that are short, I use them for this type of thing often as well as sleeves and most other knitting even just for straight, i love these!

this is what i do…

I slip as many stitches as i can onto the left needle…never all because otherwise once you start knitting there is no movement in the needles…

I then knit along the row…

Knit

Knit

once at the end I transfer two stitches back onto the left needle, this prevents loose stitches on those two that have been moved across

2 slipped, yarn tail in wrong place..

2 slipped, can see the yarn tail in wrong place..

push stitches around cable onto left needle as before

pushed stitches along to needle

slip the two slipped stitches on the left needle back onto the right needle

slipped back on to right

slipped back on to right

and knit along again,

Knit

keep repeating until you are done 😀

give it a go and knit without a seam xx

I got my inspiration for this off the Knitters and Natters facebook group, a few of lovely ladies have just purchased there first set of circulars and are getting to grips with them, hope this helps ladies xxx
