Shawl Progress, Wet Weather and Hand Warmers

February 14th, 2014

ugh, 2014 has not been great so far! I hate to moan I really do but I am in full feeling sorry for myself mode! the reason, well we have ALL been ill this week, all four of us have had some sort of awful virus type thing, feels a little like flu! bad chest high temp aching muscles yuk!

But then a big part of me does feel thankful we have a warm dry house and are hardly affected by the bad weather, dealing with the floods and storm damage as well as us being this ill would be impossible! I do hope everyone is safe and dry, and for those who have been affected you are not my thoughts go out o you x

In the words of my daughter “I’m definitely not dry!” – that pretty much sums up our weather!

I have been knitting on as much as I can, mostly on this lovely shawl, it is rather slow progress as needles are small and yarn is 4ply, but it is growing and it is looking nice.

Into my 5th ball of wool now and although I am enjoying it I’m finding it a tad monotonous, repeating the same rows and stitches over and over, having said that it isn’t as bad as I would have thought and will do it again! and because we are ill this week plain ‘knit’ is the best thing to be doing right now, making it the PERFECT project! 😀

I still have a fair way to go with it and am not sure how long it is meant to be as the pattern is one of those that just says ‘required length’ I am thinking about 5 foot!? but we shall see as I get closer to the end- that will be at least 9 balls, then at each end will be a lovely lace boarder, which I have to say I am loving!, I absolutely love knitting lace work things!

It is really nice to have this to work on, most of my other projects have taken a back seat for now however I did manage to knock out a quick pressie one evening this week…

With any luck we will be on the mend soon and i can keep things up to date…
