Knitted Crossover for WW1 Film
August 18th, 2014
I have been fairly quiet lately, this is (partly) why.
As you may have read in some of my older blog posts I have been knitting for a WW1 film ‘tell them of us’
So far I have knitted a shawl for ‘Grace’ another shawl for a ‘villager’ and a jumper that will be used along side the film for some related events, all these items have been made with patterns from the period, every item I have made I have loved and this one I defiantly did, it is a very clever pattern and fits really nicely!
I am so loving being part of this project and very lucky to have knitted so many lovely items, I was asked if I would like to look for a pattern I would like to knit and I kept coming back to this one again and again, when I mentioned this everyone seemed excited so it added to the joy of making it.
It was knitted in lovely Debbie bliss yarn.
When I started out it looked like bunting!
And I hit quite a few knots in the yarn!
But I enjoyed knitting this a lot!
I ran out of yarn not too far from the end! so I had a search around for some yarn, I eventually found some but it wasn’t the same dye lot, which was a risk that paid off very well, you cannot tell so I was/am soo happy!
The pattern was lovely but it did take a little adapting but really was easy to follow and as you can see it is all garter stitch, so just plain knitting!…with a few increases and decreases!
This is the main part finished
And the start of the crochet edging on the knitted garment,
I wasn’t too sure about the edging to start with
But as it went on I quite liked it!
and this is it un-wrapped
Finally one of it completed and on me! and I now love that edging I wasn’t sure about!
this is the back!
I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to have been part of this project and knit this lovely item,
